CASTLETON, Vt. – The Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team dropped a Little East Conference match to UMass Boston, 8-1, at the campus courts Tuesday.

Stella Forte/Madelyn Nonni and Devon Kibbey/Natsuhi Onishi nabbed three games in doubles action at the first and third flights, respectively, as the Spartans (1-7, 0-4 LEC) were topped in all three tandem matchups.

Riding the momentum gained from a 9-0 sweep of Salem State last weekend, the Beacons (2-1, 2-0 LEC) continued to roll in singles play with five donuts. VTSU Castleton would not be held silent as Onishi thumped Kaya-Lilliana Rutkowski at the sixth spot, taking 6-2 and 6-1 set wins. Camille Jackson fought hard at flight No. 3, but Elena Albano emerged with a 6-4, 6-2 triumph to wrap up proceedings.

The Spartans have a quick turnaround as they welcome VTSU Johnson tomorrow for a 4 p.m. first serve.
