Jackson Remains Unbeaten, Women's Tennis Drops Match at WestConn

MIDDLEBURY, Conn. – Camille Jackson notched her fourth consecutive singles triumph of the season against WestConn on Saturday afternoon, but the Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 loss to the Wolves.

The Spartans (1-5, 0-3 LEC) were swept in doubles action despite an impressive effort from Jackson and Ginny Trevisan who fell 8-7 at the second slot. Olivia Rutkowski/Natsuhi Onishi were able to take three games at flight No. 3 against Sarah Cipriano/Natalie Paradise of WestConn (5-2, 3-0 LEC).

Jackson downed Diana Robelo, 6-4, 6-2, at the fourth flight to put VTSU Castleton on the board. Trevisan, the Australian's tandem partner, nearly came away with a victory but was clipped in a super tiebreak. Madelyn Nonni battled Melanie Grasso to 6-3, 6-4 set losses as Onishi was upended at the sixth spot by Paradise, 6-4, 6-2. The Wolves also chalked up wins at the first and fifth flights to stay undefeated in conference play this fall.

The Spartans return to the Green Mountain State to host Farmingdale State for a non-league dual tomorrow at 1 p.m.
