MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Vermont State University Castleton field hockey picked up a win on the road Saturday, 10-0 against SUNY Morrisville.
VTSU Castleton improves to 6-1 on the season and grab their fifth consecutive win en route against the Mustangs.
Zoe Martin secured the victory to improve to 6-1 on the year, as multiple Spartans covered the stat sheet in Saturday's win. The Spartans' offense lashed out against the Mustangs defensive front, putting up a season-high 39 shots in Saturday's contest.
Peyton Richardson found herself on the stat sheet with two goals and one assist. McCarthy gathered one goal and two assists and sophomore
Sierra McDermott grabbed one assist in Saturday's victory.
First year forward
Emily Downing generated the first goal of the game, with a set play from senior midfielder
Kimberly McCarthy.
Emily Harris would go on to grab a hat trick in the road victory for her fifth hat trick this season.
Theresa Culpo notched her first goal of the season late in the first quarter. Shortly after, Culpo would go on to set up
Madison Hanna for her first career goal late in the first. Sophomore
Maggie Schwartz also tallied her first career goal with a set play from
Reilly Tennis.
The Spartans are back in action Sunday, September 24 at 1 p.m. at Dave Wolk Stadium against Thomas College.
