CASLTETON, Vt. – Vermont State University Castleton field hockey wrapped up their three game homestand with a win against Bridgewater St. on Sunday, 8-0.
Highlighting Sunday's victory was senior forward Emily Harris, who had six goals and two assists in the victory. Harris' sixth goal of the game was one to remember, as she passed Rachel Preusser for the most goals in VTSU Castleton history with 87. Harris has a national leading 22 goals through six games thus far.
First year Emily Downing found the back of the cage for the second game in a row. Peyton Richardson was an offensive threat the entire game, maneuvering past defenders, finding open players, and notching her first goal of the season.
Zoe Martin claimed her second consecutive shutout to improve her record to 5-1 on the season. Sophomore Jess Smithson led the defensive front and kept the Bears offense extinguished. Smithson also tallied an assist on Richardson's goal.
With the win today, Castleton extends its win streak to four in a row, and stays undefeated at Dave Wolk Stadium this season.
The Spartans will grab a couple days of rest, and get back in action Saturday, September 23 at SUNY Morrisville.
