CASTLETON, Vt. — The Vermont State University Castleton women's tennis team was defeated by Little East Conference opponent Rhode Island College, 9-0, on home court Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans (0-4, 0-2 LEC) dropped each of their doubles matches to the defending league runners-up. The Anchorwomen (2-1, 1-0 LEC) outscored VTSU Castleton by a 24-1 margin in tandem action.
Stella Forte held strong against RIC's Lauren Macera at the top slot with a pair of 6-2 sets. Madelyn Nonni and Devon Kibbey took three games away from their matchups while Natsuhi Onishi battled to a 6-1, 6-1 result at flight No. 6 in her collegiate debut.
The squad looks to rebound quickly with another home contest tomorrow, taking on VTSU Lyndon at 1 p.m.
