CLINTON, N.Y. – The Castleton men's track and field team traveled back to New York Saturday morning to compete in the Hamilton Outdoor Invitational. Freshman Macalyster Perry and senior David Harvey each set new program bests in the meet, with seven different Spartans claiming top-10 finishes in their individual events.

Starting with Saturday's field events, Castleton's trio of Harvey, Zack Durr, and Britain Goodemote put together strong performances at the pit. Harvey highlighted his afternoon with a first-place finish in the long jump, clearing a new program-best 6.61 meters on his last jump of the afternoon to claim the top spot.

Also earning a pair of top 10-finishes was Durr, who earned seventh in the long jump before finishing in eighth in the triple jump, leaping 11.68 meters. The highest-placing Spartan in the triple jump was Goodemote, who finished in fifth with a jump of 12.44 meters.

That success carried over into the throws, where Cody York claimed a 10th and 11th place finish in the shot put and hammer throw respectively. Harrison Leombruno-Nicholson was once again the weekend's strongest performer, however, finishing 14th in the shot put before claiming second place in the javelin throw, clearing 53.47 meters to qualify for New Englands.

On the track, the Spartans had an impressive day in the sprints. Beginning with the 110-meter hurdles, Perry took fourth place with a time of 16.01, with Harvey finishing closely behind in fifth in 16.13. Perry concluded his impressive day with a 10th place finish in the 100-meter sprint, breaking a program record that had been standing since 1970 by crossing the line in 11.28. Also running well in the 100 was Charles Govan, who finished in 13th, crossing the line in 11.46.

Wayne Alexander was the final Spartan to claim a top-10 finish, placing seventh in the 400 with a time of 54.16 to wrap up an impressive day for Castleton.

The Spartans return to action next Saturday, April 8 to compete in the Vermont Quad Meet, with events set to begin at 12 p.m.
