HARTFORD, Conn. — The Vermont State University Castleton men's soccer team fell to Trinity College, 6-0, on the road Wednesday night.
Liam Cramer had a pair of headers, one sent between the posts and another hitting the crossbar. Stanley Andersen added a late on-target attempt as Toby Ritzkowski and Matt Spiller also logged a shot.
Andres Soto-Burgos recorded six saves for the Spartans (4-9-1) in the opening half. JP Maul assumed goalkeeping duties for the final 45 minutes, turning aside two Trinity (5-6-2) shots.
Soto-Burgos halted an early Bantam charge with a diving save in the ninth minute, but Trinity converted a corner with a header from six yards out. First-year defenders Cramer and Wyatt Robbie diffused further chances in the following moments. The Spartans created an opportunity with 10 minutes until halftime, nearly pocketing the equalizer as Cramer's two headers were just off the mark. Trinity extended the gap to 2-0 on Josh Donaldson's delivery from long range in the 44th minute.
The Bantams offense continued to click, collecting four goals in the second stanza to punctuate the victory.
