RUTLAND, Vt. - The Castleton women's tennis team fell to UMass Dartmouth in Little East Conference action, 6-3, Saturday afternoon at Vermont Sport & Fitness Club.
Megan Brier and
Kayon Morgan battled to an 8-6 victory at No. 3 doubles - they were the only Spartan tandem to win.Â
Makayla Boisvert and
Mia Manheimer picked up singles victories at No. 5 and No. 6 respectively. Boisvert dropped the first set before storming back to dominate the second set. She then claimed the third set by a score of 10-5. Manheimer cruised to an 8-3 triumph on the lowest court. Both improved to 3-2 on the year in singles.Â
Grace Sharkey forced a third set and nearly pulled off a comeback, but fell 14-12 in the deciding set.Â
The team returns to action Monday, September 20 against Northern Vermont University-Johnson at Castleton Tennis Courts. The match begins at 4 p.m.
