Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Comes Up Short Against Union, 4-2

CASTLETON, Vt. - The Castleton men's soccer team matched its highest goal output of the season, but fell to Union by a final score of 4-2.

Union struck first as a misplay on the Spartan backline resulted in an own-goal in the second minute. The Dutchmen would add another in the fifth minute, and strike for a third time in the 21st minute.

Adolphe Alfani put Castleton on the board and trimmed the deficit to 3-1 in the 33rd minute with his first collegiate goal.

Union's Luca Richo notched his second goal of the afternoon in the 46th minute to give the visitors a 4-1 advantage.

Jacob Henderson tallied his first goal of the season in the 65th minute. Freshman Toby Ritzkowski assisted both Spartan tallies.

Castleton used a pair of goalkeepers, Andres Soto-Burgos and Jonathan Maul - they combined for eight saves.

The Spartans return home Tuesday, September 14 for a non-conference match against Norwich. They'll open Little East Conference play September 18 at Southern Maine.
