CASTLETON, Vt. - The Castleton women's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 season-opening victory against NVU-Lyndon Wednesday afternoon at Castleton Tennis Courts. 

The Spartans swept doubles to set the stage for dominant performances in singles. Regina Marchese and Megan Hunt won 8-0 at No. 1 doubles. Megan Brier and Grace Sharkey won 8-2 on the second court, while Makayla Boisvert and Mia Manheimer claimed an 8-1 triumph. 

Each Spartan won in straight sets as the match moved to singles action. Marchese, Hunt, and Brier each blanked their opponents competing on the top three courts. Boisvert registered a shutout in the fifth slot, while Sharkey and Manheimer won to round out the results at No. 4 and No. 6 respectively. 

Castleton returns to action at Colby-Sawyer on Friday, September 3.
