CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton University women's lacrosse team dropped a Little East Conference contest to Plymouth State by a final score of 22-3 on Tuesday at Dave Wolk Stadium.

The Spartans were led by a two-goal night from
Aubra Linn, while
Kimberly McCarthy added a goal and
Ryanne Mix an assist. McCarthy also had three ground balls in the game to lead the team, while
Lacey Greenamyre reeled in a team-leading seven draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Raven Payne got the start in goal and made nine saves in 46 minutes of action.
Carly Curtis stopped one shot in her 14 minutes of play.

The Panthers were powered by an eight-point outing from Emily Santom, who finished with five goals and three assists. Sydney Dubois also notched five goals while tallying an assist for a six-point game, and Elizabeth McLaughlin chipped in with four goals and five ground balls. Kaylee St. Laurent had a hat trick, while Oliva Croke added three assists. Tarryn O'Brien, Julia Mahoney and Devon Mello rounded out multi-point scorers for Plymouth in the contest. Dubois led all players with nine draw controls and Emily Le Do had a game-high three caused turnovers. Meaghan Allard made five saves in the victory for the Panthers in goal.

Plymouth held a 35-15 edge in shots on the day, including a 32-8 advantage in shots on goal. The Spartans turned it over 20 times to Plymouth's 11, with 10 of Castleton's turnovers being caused and only three of Plymouth's forced. Castleton won the battle in draw controls, 14-13, but Plymouth collected 18 ground balls to Castleton's nine.

Castleton struck first in the contest, as McCarthy netted her 14th goal of the year on an assist from Mix just 2:32 into the game. The lead was short-lived, however, as Plymouth responded just 47 seconds later when Dubois potted her first of five goals on the day to even the score at 1-1. Plymouth then took a lead it never relinquished just over a minute later, going ahead 2-1 on a Kaylee St. Laurent score. The two goals helped spark an 11-0 run for the Panthers that came to an end with 10:31 to play before halftime when Linn scored her first of two goals on the night to make it 11-2. Plymouth tacked on four more goals before the break, carrying a 15-2 lead into halftime.

The Panthers opened the second half with five more goals before Linn again found the back of the net, this time on a free-position shot. Plymouth State added two more late goals to give the game its final score of 22-3, the last of which came with 2:38 to play.

Castleton is back in action on Saturday for its final road game of the season when it travels to Rhode Island College for a 2 p.m. contest.
