CASTLETON, Vt. - The Castleton women's tennis team earned its first Little East Conference victory of the season with an 8-1 triumph of Southern Maine Saturday afternoon at Castleton Tennis Courts

Regina Marchese and Grace Sharkey edged the Huskies' top doubles team 8-5, while Megan Hunt and Makaya Boisvert dominated to the tune of 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Castleton would sweep doubles action as it won via forfeit on the third court. 

Hunt posted a clean sweep at No. 2 singles, earning her third singles victory of the year. Sharkey won in straight sets on the third court, as did Megan Brier at No. 4. Mia Manheimer competed at No. 5 singles and swept her Southern Maine counterpart. 

The Spartans return to action Tuesday, October 12, traveling to Plymouth State.
