BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Castleton University women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss to Fisher College Friday night in the penultimate match of the season, falling 25-20, 26-24, 25-14 to the Falcons.
 
The Spartans drop to 5-18 on the season while Fisher improves to 14-7. The Falcons held a 49-31 edge in kills, 9-1 edge in aces, 47-30 edge in assists and 61-48 edge in digs in the match. The Spartans hit .200 on the night, making just 10 errors, while the Falcons hit .316 with 13 errors.
 
Bre MacDuff became Castleton's single-season record holder for assists in the match, moving her season total to 477, surpassing the mark of 466 set by Alex Madsen in 2016. Hailey Martinovich racked up 12 kills in the match, giving her 197 on the year—fourth-most all time in a single season for the Spartans. Lizzie Goodrich added five kills and two total blocks, bringing her total this season to 33—the seventh-best total in a single year in program history and the most in a single season by a Spartan since 2011. Mackenzie Wade had 19 digs to lead the team, with Jen Halliday adding seven.
 
Fisher's Macy Barnes dominated the day for Fisher, compiling 19 kills and 14 digs, Natalia Ortiz had eight kills and 17 digs, while Lia Aime had 16 digs herself. Paola Velazquez racked up 42 assists for the Falcons.
 
Castleton closes the season Saturday with a 2 p.m. match at UMass. Boston.
