BOSTON, Mass. – The Castleton women's volleyball season came to a close Saturday afternoon with a 3-0 loss to UMass. Boston in Little East Conference play.
The Spartans wrap up the 2021 campaign with a 5-19 record, while UMass. Boston sits at 12-12 overall. The Beacons topped Castleton 25-18, 25-17, 25-14 Saturday, holding a 43-17 edge in kills, 14-6 advantage in aces, 42-17 lead in assists and 37-16 edge in digs.
Hailey Martinovich registered eight kills in the match, giving her 205 for the season. She becomes just the fourth Spartan ever to reach the 200-kill mark in a single season.
Bre MacDuff added 11 assists to bring her career total to 868, second-most all time in Castleton history. Her 488 assists this season are a new program record, an accolade she reached Friday night at Fisher.
Jen Halliday had three aces in the match in addition to four digs.
Mackenzie Wade had a team-best five digs.
UMass. Boston was led by double-digit kills from Taryn Broughal and Marcelle Tiscareno. Broughal had 11 and Tiscareno 10. Kelsey Pereira added eight kills for the Beacons, and Carsen Komminsk had 31 assists. Aleks Qose had four service aces and 10 digs while Ally Dean led all players with 11 digs.
