Ritzkowski Scores First of Career as Men's Soccer Topped by Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Castleton men's soccer team fell to Springfield College by a score of 7-1 on the road in non-conference action Tuesday evening. Toby Ritzkowski scored the Spartans' lone goal, finding the back of the net for the first time in his career.

The Pride (10-5-0) struck first in the fourth minute before Ritzkowski's tally tied the contest in the 32nd minute. He scored off a feed from Adolphe Alfani, who has recorded at least a point in each of the last three games.

The 1-1 deadlock would hold until the 42nd minute, when Springfield gained a one-goal advantage. The Pride closed the half with a third goal in the final minute before the break.

The second half would feature four Springfield goals, including two by Aiden Casinghino, who completed a hat trick.

Castleton (4-12-0, 2-5-0 LEC) posted two shots on target - Ritzkowski's goal and another by Stanley Andersen, while Springfield totaled 15. Goalkeeper Jonathan Maul made the start and logged more than 71 minutes, making a career-high seven saves.

The Spartans return home Friday evening to face UMass Boston. Kick-off at Dave Wolk Stadium is set for 7 p.m.
