KEENE, N.H. - The Castleton men's soccer team dropped a 7-1 decision to Keene State on the road Wednesday evening.
The Spartans (3-10-0, 1-4-0 LEC) scored first as
Noah Swainbank netted a header off
Ben Stewart's corner kick. Swainbank skied above a host of Owls before connecting with the ball and tucking a well-placed shot inside the right post. It marked Swainbank's second goal of the season.
The 1-0 lead would stand until the 16th minute, when Keene State (3-5-2, 2-1-1 LEC) got on the board. They'd score again in the 27th minute and extend the lead to 3-1 in the 45th minute. Four second half Owl goals would bring the score to the final 7-1 margin. Rahul Drupka scored a pair for Keene State.
Goalkeeper
Andres Soto-Burgos played more than 65 minutes and tallied four saves before
Jonathan Maul entered for the remainder. Castleton posted three shots on target, including Swainbank's goal. Additional shots came from
Adolphe Alfani and
Jacob Godfrey.
The Spartans return to action Saturday, October 16, hosting LEC opponent Plymouth State for a 4 p.m. kick-off.
