CASTLETON, Vt. -- A native of Winsted, Connecticut, baseball's Cameron Goulet is next up in Castleton's Senior Spotlight series.

A Business Marketing & Management major, Goulet has been a four-year member of the baseball program at Castleton. As a pitcher, he was a part of two North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship teams in 2016 and 2017 and finished his career with an 8-6 record on the mound and a 5.55 earned run average.

This season, Goulet was off to a slow start as he started off his senior campaign with an 0-2 record in three appearances. However, his best game came against Cabrini University back on February 27 in Auburndale, Florida. Earning his third start of the season, Goulet pitched seven solid innings as he gave up just one earned run and struck out seven batters. Despite not earning a decision, Goulet propelled the Spartans to a 3-2 victory in extra innings to extend the team's winning streak to four games.

As a freshman back in 2017, Goulet made five appearances coming out of the bullpen. In his first career game, he entered in the eighth inning against nationally-ranked Cortland State and gave up two runs on two hits including a home run in a 13-4 loss. After his first career outing, however, Goulet finished the season with a 3.60 earned run average and only surrendered two hits in four more appearances out of the bullpen.

During his sophomore season, Goulet jumped into a starting role as he made five starts on the mound in 2018. He finished the season with a 4-1 record with a 4.03 earned run average as he struck out 33 batters. His best game that season came against Colby Sawyer as he earned his first career home start. Despite the Chargers taking the lead in the first inning, Goulet was dominant on the mound as he pitched his first-ever complete game while also earning his first collegiate victory. After surrendering the lead, Goulet retired 13 straight batters and struck out a career-high 10 as the Spartans' rallied to a 7-3 victory.

After his performance against Colby-Sawyer, Goulet was honored by the conference as he was named NAC pitcher of the week on April 16. He was also named to the NAC All-Academic Team at the conclusion of the 2018 season.

Goulet stepped up even more in his junior campaign as he started eight games for the Spartans. Finishing the season with a 4-3 record, Goulet accumulated an earned run average of 5.66 while striking out a career-high 48 batters in 41.1 innings of work.

"He [Goulet] has worked very hard to become a top-flight college pitcher," head coach Ted Shipley stated regarding his starting pitcher.

"He is as reliable and consistent as they get," Shipley continued. "He was off to a slow start this season, but his stuff was really good and it was just a matter of time before it all came together ... He put in the hard work that was necessary and was primed for a special season.
