CASTLETON, Vt. – The Castleton men's soccer team dropped its home-opener on Wednesday evening, falling by a final score of 2-0 to Keene St. at Spartan Stadium.

Castleton falls to 0-3-2 with the loss, while the Owls continue their season-opening winning streak with a 4-0 record.

Aaron Parker had five saves in net for Castleton, although Conor Leahy and Promise Kpee each found the back of the net for Keene St.

Leahy found the back of the net early, giving his squad a 1-0 lead in the 7th minute when he took a pass from Aidan Dean and volleyed it to himself before placing a shot into the right side of the net. The two sides played back-and-forth the remainder of the half, heading into the break with a 1-0 Owl lead still intact.

The Spartan attack came out in the second half, as the squad registered eight shots. The Spartans had multiple free-kick opportunities from 25 yards, but they could not convert them into goals. Late in the game, a Spartan defender tried to play the ball back to the goalie, but the pass was intercepted by Kpee, who waltzed in with the insurance goal in the 88th minute.

The two sides were even in shots, with 13 apiece, while Keene St. held a 4-2 edge in corner kicks. The Owls also registered 14 fouls to Castleton's eight, with Keene St. being hit with a yellow card in the 75th minute.

Castleton is back on the pitch on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. when it hosts New England College in a North Atlantic Conference matchup on Homecoming and Family Weekend.
