HAMPTON, Va. – Castleton baseball opened its six-game roadtrip this evening with a 7-4 defeat against the Apprentice School Builders in non-conference action at the War Memorial Stadium.

The Spartans now stand at 3-4 on the season after having their three-game winning streak snapped with the three-run defeat. The Builders, meanwhile, captured their third straight win and improved to 10-13 on the year.

Sophomore Michael LaBeau picked up a no-decision in his first start of the season. The righthander left the game after allowing two runs (one earned) to go along with five strikeouts in two innings of work. Southpaw Steven Jurkiewicz (1-1) took the loss after tossing six innings in relief with a pair of punchouts.

Offensively, Dan Errico opened the scoring in the contest with a two-out, two-run shot to left in the first inning of play. The senior finished the game with two hits and three RBIs, while junior Nick Swim added two hits and two runs scored of his own in the losing effort.

Castleton is back in action tomorrow at 3 pm with a doubleheader at War Memorial Stadium. The Spartans will play Tufts in the opener before facing MIT in the finale at 6 pm.
