Box Score KEENE, N.H. – The Castleton men's basketball team dropped a non-conference matchup to Keene St. on Tuesday evening, falling by a final score of 55-43 at Spaulding Gym.
With the loss, the Spartans fall to 4-8 on the season, as they shot just 27.8 percent from the floor and committed 17 turnovers. Keene St. moves to 7-3 overall with the win as they shot 37.8 percent and went 6 of 15 from beyond the arc.
Pavin Parrish led all scorers with 18 points in the contest, with seven reoubnds, three assists and two steals. Tondi Mushandu matched him with seven rebounds while adding two points and three assists. Casey McGraw added five points, three rebounds and two blocks while Robbie Colarusso scored six points.
The first half was a low-scoring affair, as the two squads struggled from the floor. Castleton made just three of 15 field goals, collecting ten of its points at the free throw line in the opening 20 minutes. The Owls went 8-27 from the floor in the first half, and led the Spartans 20-17 at the break.
Castleton came out firing in the second half, picking up a 5-0 run early in the frame. Following a three-pointer by Kyle Adams drew the game within one point, Parrish gave the Spartans their first lead of the contest at 25-24. The rest of the half would be controlled by Keene St., however, as it pulled away by outscoring the Spartans 31-18 over the final 16 minutes.
Ty Nichols led the way for Keene St., scoring a team-high 15 points in the game. The rebound battle was close, with Keene St. holding a 34-29 edge on the glass in the game.
The Spartans are back in action on Saturday, when they travel to take on Green Mountain. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
