CASTLETON, Vt. – Castleton's men's soccer team captured its second straight shutout victory this evening, as they knocked off the Southern Maine Huskies 2-0 in Bangor, Maine at the 4th Annual Adidas Challenge Cup.

The Spartan attack was in fine form, outshooting the opposition 23-16 while putting seven shots on goal. Steven Koenemann and Solo Felekeni were on-target for the squad, while Jake Tietgens added his second assist of the year to help Castleton improve to 3-2 on the season. The Huskies, meanwhile, fall to 1-4-1 in the losing effort. 

Felekeni opened the scoring in the 19th minute of play with his second strike of the season. The junior transfer received a pass from Tietgens in the box and finished his shot in the bottom left corner of the net to give the away side an early 1-0 lead.

Koenemann doubled the Spartan advantage just past the hour mark, as he rocketed a shot from 25 yards out to secure Castleton's 2-0 victory. 

Amir Pasic improved to 3-2 on the year after recording his third shutout of the season with four saves. His counterpart, Simon Hulbert, suffered the loss after stopping five of the seven shots that he faced. 

The Spartans are back in action next Wednesday at 4 pm when they travel to Bennington, Vt. to faceoff with in-state foes Southern Vermont.
