Spartans Claim 3-1 Victory at Plymouth St.

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Castleton jumped out to a two-goal lead and never looked back, as they captured a 3-1 victory over the Plymouth St. Panthers on Saturday night at Hanaway Rink. 

Hannah Rose and Anna Daniels contributed one goal and one assist apiece to help the Spartans climb back to .500 at 10-10-1 (5-7-1 ECAC East) overall. The Panthers, meanwhile, fall to 3-16-2 (3-9-1 ECAC East) with the losing effort.

Following a scoreless opening frame, the Spartans got on the board first when Hannah Rose netted her second career goal to hand the away side a 1-0 advantage just 3:38 into the second period.

Emily Raber doubled Castleton's lead midway through the final stanza when she scored her first goal of the season. Taylor Steadman was credited with an assist on the play, as Raber finished the puck home to make it 2-0 in favor of the away side.

The Panthers cut their deficit back to one after Marisa Zamrock tallied her third goal of the season with 3:21 remaining in regulation. However, the Spartans responded just over a minute later when Anna Daniels grabbed her eighth goal of the year to secure a 3-1 victory for Castleton.

Paula Stephens improved to 6-4-1 overall after stopping 20 of the 21 shots that she faced, whereas Alyssa Altschuler allowed three goals with 24 saves as she dropped to 3-11-1 on the season. 

Next weekend, the Spartans hit the road for the final time this season, as they take on the University of New England Nor'easters and Southern Maine Huskies in conference play on Friday and Saturday.
