MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Spartans overcame a two-goal deficit with five goals in the final period of play to capture a 5-2 victory over the St. Anselm Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Sullivan Arena.

Will Laking led the Spartan comeback with two goals and one assist, while Kurt Johnson, Trevor Hanna and Ryan Frost chipped in one goal apiece to secure a three-goal victory. This win snaps Castleton's three-game losing streak, as the squad improves to 6-12 (4-7 ECAC East) on the season. The Hawks, meanwhile, drop to 5-11-2 (4-7-2 ECAC East) overall after suffering their fifth loss in the last six games.

Following a scoreless inital frame, St. Anselm scored the first goal of the game at the 8:03 mark in the second period when Brian Sullivan capitalized on a power play opportunity. Mark Meads was credited with an assist on the play, as Sullivan recorded his team-leading seventh goal of the season to make it 1-0 in favor of the hosts.

Sean Jenkins doubled the Hawks lead less than two minutes into the final stanza after he netted his sixth goal of the year, but that lead didn't last long, as Laking scored a pair of Spartan goals in a span of 1:06 to even the game at 2-2 with 12:03 remaining in regulation.

Laking's two goals sparked Castleton's offense, and at the 11:13 mark, the Spartans seized their first lead of the game when Johnson found the back of the net for the third time in his career.

With 3:12 remaining in regulation, Castleton extended its advantage to two when Hanna's shot beat St. Anselm's Brad Rocheville, and less than a minute later, the team's captain, Frost, scored an empty netter to push to secure the team's fifth road win of the year with a 5-2 result.

In net, Ryan Mulder recorded his third career win after delivering a solid performance with 24 saves in 60 minutes of action. His counterpart, Rocheville, allowed four goals with 19 saves in just his second loss of the season.

Castleton is back in action this upcoming weekend when it hosts the eighth-ranked Babson Beavers and tenth-ranked UMass Boston Beacons at Spartan Arena on Friday and Saturday.
