Castleton extended their lead in the top of the third with a pair of RBI doubles from White and Errico to put them ahead 3-0. The Spartans supplied plenty of run support for Johnson who mowed through the Thomas lineup all day.
In the seventh, the Spartans tacked on another two runs on a two-run double from Borowski that brought home Lord and White. The blast made it 5-0, and in the bottom of the seventh, Johnson recorded a pair of strikeouts and a fielder's choice to close out the win.
In game two, the Castleton bats picked up right where they left off, scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first. After Joe Borowski drew a two-out walk, Dan Errico lifted a mammoth blast over the fence for a two-run homer to put the Spartans ahead in the early going.
Castleton tacked on five more runs in the top of the second on four hits, two hit batsmen, and an error. Soren Pelz-Walsh and White each drove in a run on groundouts, making it 4-0, and then Pelz-Walsh took home on a wild pitch. After Borowski and Errico each took one for the team, McNamee ripped a two-run single extending the lead to 7-0.
Thomas scored their first and only two runs of the day in the bottom of the second, capitalizing on three Castleton fielding errors to cut into the lead. After the Terriers scored an unearned run on an error, Joe Quinlin ripped an RBI single to make it 7-2.
The Spartans continued to build their lead in the third, scoring three runs on a pair of hit batsmen, an error, and a hit. Both Chaz Millett and Nate Swahn were plunked by Thomas' Taylor Bacon and advanced to scoring position on a wild pitch. With runners on second and third, Lord stroked an RBI single to bring home Millett. Swahn scored on an error the next play, and Lord came home on a Joe Borowski fielder's choice, making it 10-2.
A pair of sacrifice flies from Millett and Lord in the top of the fourth made it 12-2. With the Spartans owning a dominant lead and the rain and icy mix beginning to accelerate, the game was called after the fifth inning, giving Castleton the 12-2 victory and the sweep.
Salerno cruised through the Thomas lineup, scattering five hits over five innings and allowing just one earned run. The freshman has tossed 12 innings on the year, allowing just two earned runs for a 1.50 ERA.
