Longview, Texas - Castleton was stumped by LeTourneau's pitching staff, mustering only six hits in an 8-3 loss to the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday night in Texas. Tyler Lord and Joe Borowski earned two hits, with a double apiece.

The Spartans jumped out to a great start taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Lord led off the game with a double to right and was moved over to third on a sacrifice bunt by Macyn Clifford. Joe Borowski brought home the run with a double to left, putting Castleton ahead in the early going.

Steven Jurkiewicz cruised through the Yellow Jackets' lineup through the first two innings, allowing just two baserunners over the first two frames. The freshman ran into trouble in the third though, allowing four hits and a hit batsmen. LeTourneau scored three runs in the inning to take a 3-1 lead.

In the fourth, Robert Gould took the rubber for the Spartans and worked his way through the fourth and fifth allowing just one hit. In the sixth, the Yellow Jackets squeezed across two runs off the freshman, extending their advantage to 5-1.

Matt Ravey came on for the Spartans in the seventh, making his second appearance of the year. In his first showing he earned a one-out save, shutting down Austin College for an 8-5 win on Sunday. Tuesday however, the junior was knocked around by the Yellow Jackets' bats, giving up three runs on five hits, making the LeTourneau lead 8-1.

In the top of the eighth, Castleton manufactured a second run with a short two-out rally. Clifford and Borowski knocked back-to-back singles and Clifford was able to score on a fielding error to make it 8-2.

The Spartans added another run in the ninth when Nate Swahn and Tyler Hoare each drew walks to put runners on first and second with one out. After Jackson Musco pinch ran for Swahn, Chaz Millett hit into a fielder's choice that allowed the speedy Musco to score, making it 8-3. That was all the Spartans could muster though as the Yellow Jackets closed out the game.

Christian Baker earned the win for LeTourneau, allowing two hits for one earned run in four innings of work. Jurkiewicz took the loss for the Spartans after allowing three runs in three innings.

LeTourneau stays undefeated, moving to 8-0 to begin their season, and completing a sweep of the Spartans. Castleton moves to 1-2 on the year and will finish their road trip with a game against Louisiana College on Wednesday.
