In the second period, Castleton continued to hold the offensive momentum, and at the 16:26 mark, the home side grabbed an equalizer when Brianna Keats notched her second goal of the season. With pressure closing from behind, the freshman forward netted a shot on a breakaway into the top shelf to even the score at 1-1.
Early in the final period of play, the Spartans grabbed their first lead of the contest when Bombardier recorded her first goal of the 2014-15 season. The junior forward gathered a rebound in front of the goal and tapped the puck past Cortland's netminder, Deanna Meunier, to give Castleton a 2-1 lead just 19 seconds into the third period.
At the 5:38 mark, the Spartans extended their advantage to two after Buratynski found the back of the net. The puck was swung around the edge of the zone to Buratynski, and the sophomore rifled a slapshot from the top of the point past Meunier to make it 3-1.
However, the Red Dragons responded just 13 seconds later to cut the home side's lead back to one. Kaitlyn Ryan passed the puck in front of the net, and Temple slotted it home to make the score 3-2 as the time eclipsed 5:51 in the third period.
The Spartans received a penalty late in third, but were able to defend well and not allow any damage as Castleton skated away with their consecutive victory of the season.
