Plymouth, N.H. - The Spartans offense was firing on all cylinders as four different Spartans found the back of the net as Castleton downed Plymouth St. 4-2 on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Plymouth, improving their record to 3-1-1 on the season. 

Nate Koenemann finished with six saves to earn his third win of the year in net. His counterpart, Danny Marsh turned away one shot and allowed three goals in the first half, while Sam Whipple save two shots and allowed one goal in the second half. 

Blake Hart started the Spartan scoring when he blasted a ball in from the top of the box. John Kendall received an assist on the play as the visiting Spartans took a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute of play. 

Dameon Young added a goal in the 19th minute when he buried a penalty kick to the put the Spartans up 2-0. Spencer Dandurand notched a tally in the 30th minute off a pass from Young. The junior netted his second goal of the season as the Spartans entered the halftime break with a 3-0 lead.

In the second half, the Panthers attempt to mount a comeback. Jacob Sjoberg put Plymouth St. on the board with a goal right off the bat. In the 47th minute, Adam Groves found Sjoberg for a score that cut the Spartan lead to 3-1. 

Less than six minutes later, Castleton had an answer. Jake Tietgens and Kendall worked a two-on-one break into a scoring opportunity. Tietgens found the back of the net to put the Spartans up 4-1 and restore their three-goal advantage.

Later in the second half, Plymouth scored again. Graham Hughes ripped the ball from the right side of the 18-yard line, beating Koenemann to make the score 4-2. The Panthers' comeback came up short as the Spartans finished the game without conceding again.

Castleton earned an important non-conference win on the road, their second win away from home this season. The Spartans take on New England College in their North Atlantic Conference opener on Saturday, Sept. 21.
