Henniker, N.H. – It all came together for Castleton on Tuesday as they got pitching and offense to sweep New England College in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader, 11-1 and 9-0.

Adam Greenlese won his fifth game of the season in the opener and Patrick Riley tossed a two-hitter in the second game as the Spartans have now won 10 of their last 11 and are 12-5 on the season. NEC, meanwhile, dropped to 1-9 overall and 0-6 in the NAC.

NEC got to Adam Greenlese in the bottom of the first inning. The southpaw gave up a double and single to put runners on second and third with one out. A sacrifice fly scored one run, but Greenlese struck out the final batter of the inning to end the threat.

Castleton responded in the top of the second as Connor Hoagland led off with a walk and then stole second. Matt McNamee drove him home and tied the game up with a single to centerfield. McNamee advanced to second on a passed ball and came around to score on an error by the third baseman. Cameron Curler drove in the final run of the frame on a groundout to third, to give the Spartans a 3-1 lead.

Greenlese game up a leadoff double in the second, but didn't allow another hit until the bottom of the seventh. His offense gave him plenty of help as Joe Borowski made it 4-1 Castleton with a home run to lead off the third.

The Spartans exploded for seven runs in the top of the sixth to put the game firmly in hand. Castleton recorded five hits in the frame as 12 men came to the plate. Hoagland and Allen White each recorded 2 RBI hits, with Hoagland's a double and White's single to center field.

Greenlese earned his fourth complete-game victory, giving up just the one earned run and four hits. He had five strikeouts but did walk five batters in the contest.

In game two Riley allowed just two hits while striking out three batters without allowing a walk.

On the offensive side of the ball Castleton plated three runs in the first, one in the second and two more in the third for the 6-0 advantage, highlighted by a McNamee two-run double off the left field fence in the first.

The Spartans added one more run and two in the sixth for the 9-0 win. Leading the way at the plate for the Spartans in game two was Hoagland, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Collecting hits for the Pilgrims was Kevin Caputo and Zach Carrano.

The Spartans return to action on Wednesday when they host Amherst at 4 pm.
