Castleton Shut Out by Keene St.

Keene, N.H. - The Spartans' prolific offense was stifled by a stingy Keene St. defense on Monday night as the squad was shut out in a 4-0 loss to the Owls. 

Castleton goalkeeper Jessica Binkowski made eight saves and took the loss in net for the Spartans. Her Keene St. counterpart Victoria Crenson made eight saves to earn the shutout win. Alex Haley and Jessica Berthiaume each finished with a goal and an assist for the Owls as they improved to 9-2-1 on the year.

The game was evenly played until the 21st minute when Kara Pavlidis put the Owls on the board with a goal. Kristen Huckins and Alex Haley were credited with assists on the play. Just under 10 minutes later the Owls netted another. Keene St. was awarded a penalty kick and Brittany Boscarino converted to put the home team up 2-0.

In the second half, Keene continued to add to their tally. The Owls scored in the 52nd and 56th minutes to increase their lead to four goals. Jessica Berthiaume and Alex Haley each tallied to seal the victory for the home team.

With the loss, Castleton moves to 9-4-0 on the season and has their four-game winning streak abruptly snapped. The squad will travel to Lyndon St. on Saturday, Oct. 12 to take on the Hornets in a North Atlantic Conference contest.
