Castleton, Vt. - The Spartans earned a homecoming weekend win on Saturday night, downing the Colby-Sawyer Chargers 3-0 at Spartan Stadium. Three different Spartans found the back of the net as Castleton earned their 10th win of the season.

Justin Hepburn finished the game with a goal and an assist while Nate Koenemann made three saves on his way to the win in net. His Colby-Sawyer counterpart Nick Austin made four saves in the loss.

Castleton started the scoring with a tally in the 41st minute. Blake Hart camped out in the middle of the box before receiving a line-drive cross from Hepburn. The forward held off a Charger defender and directed a header toward the bottom left corner that beat the keeper and put Castleton up 1-0.

Just 2:08 later, the Chargers fell victim to a handball in the box, allowing a Spartan penalty kick. Dameon Young stepped up to the 12-yard spot and drilled the ball top shelf to the keeper's right, putting the Spartans up 2-0 just before the halftime break.

In the second frame, the Spartans added their third goal. Justin Hepburn stepped up on an offensive charge, coming out of the back on a run. The defender beat a defender and ripped a shot that glanced off a Charger defender and slipped into the top corner, extending the Castleton lead to 3-0.

Castleton held off any further Colby-Sawyer advances and maintained the shutout. The match marks Koenemann's sixth shutout of the season, the team's seventh game of the year without conceding a goal.

The Spartans move to 10-2-2 on the year, 5-1-1 in the NAC and will finish their regular season with three consecutive home games, and will travel to Middlebury College on Oct. 22 to face off with the Panthers in their final non-conference scrum of the year.
