Strong First Half Lifts Castleton Past Colby-Sawyer, 4-1

NEW LONDON, N.H. - Senior Kealy Chipman (Bellows Falls, Vt.) scored a pair of first half goals and added an assist to help Castleton to a 4-1 win at Colby-Sawyer in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play Saturday afternoon.

The Spartans improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference action. The Chargers even their record to 3-3 and dip to 0-1 in the NAC.

Junior Rachel Preusser (Craryville, N.Y.) put Castleton up 1-0 2:20 into the game adding to her team leading total of eight.

Chipman, who assisted on the game's first goal, scored the Spartans' next two goals in a three minute span to put the visitors ahead 3-0 heading into the half.

Castleton received a fourth goal from junior Blake Wardwell (Bridgewater, Vt.) with 27 minutes left to play in the game.

Colby-Sawyer was able to get on the board with in the 62nd minute on a goal from sophomore Katharine Kessler (Newport, N.H.). The goal was Kessler's third of the season.

Sophomore Jessica Galatioto (Queensbury, N.Y.) was credited with the win after making four saves in 61 minutes. Freshman Heather Ploof (Salisbury, Vt.) worked the remainder of the game and made one save. Colby-Sawyer freshman goalie Jodi Dumayne (Claremont, N.H.) made 13 saves in the loss.

Colby-Sawyer steps out of conference play when they travel to Daniel Webster on Thursday for a 4:00 pm game. Castleton will host Lasell next Saturday at noon.
