Newton, Mass. - The Castleton Women's Soccer team had one hiccup in 90 minutes, but that was all that their opponents needed to steal the victory.

The Spartans staved off a relentless attack by Elizabethtown, as the Blue Jays accumulated 15 shots over the course of the game. Freshman goalie Sarah Shilstone (Deer Park, N.Y.) made six saves and the Spartan defense fought off six corners in the effort.

Elizabethtown forward Amy Bunting notched a goal on a header in the third minute of play. The Spartans shut out the unrelenting Blue Jays for the next 87 minutes. The early score proved to be enough for Elizabethtown, who downed the Spartans 1-0.

Despite their efforts, Castleton could not get any clean looks on net, and finished the game with only two shots.

The Spartans will return to action tomorrow at 12 p.m. in the consolation match of the LaSell College Kickoff Tournament against Becker. The Hawks lost 11-3 to host Lasell in the second match of the afternoon.
