Castleton Sweeps Lyndon, Hornets eliminated

LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – Castleton State College swept a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division baseball games from Lyndon State College Monday afternoon, winning the opener 5-4 before earning an 8-3 win in the nightcap.

In the opener, Zak Mayo and Shawn Kennedy pounded out two hits each, and Jack Lancelin drove home a pair of runs, as Castleton rallied from a 4-2 deficit. Patrick Riley got credit for the win in relief of Tim Smith and Dakaota Aker went two innings to get the save.

Jake Ainsworth (Fairfax, Vt.) had two hits in the loss for the Hornets while Shane O'Donnell-Leach (Groton, Vt.), who took the loss in releief of Shane Fleury (Plainfield, Vt.) collected two runs-batted-in in the contest.

In the nightcap, Joe Borowski had three hits - including a pair of doubles - and three RBIs to lead the Spartans to a sweep of the doubleheader and the season series. Matt Eisenhuth drove in two runs in support of starter Billy Kosachook, who went five innings to get the win.

Kyle Whitworth (Brattleboro, Vt.) had two hits in the loss for Lyndon while O'Donnell-Leach and Korey Marsh (Essex, Vt.) chipped in one each. Jeremy Schichtle (Ryegate, Vt.) suffered the loss.
