Castleton (13-15, 7-3) won the opener 13-3 and finished the sweep with a 15-4 triumph in the nightcap.

Leading 4-3 in the opener, Castleton used a seven-run fifth inning to break the game open. Joe Borowski (Schenectady, N.Y.), David Raczka (Middletown, Conn.) and Jack Lancelin (Chatham, N.Y.) each had RBI-singles in the inning and Eisenthuth provided a clutch, two-run single with two outs.

Castleton starter Dakota Aker (Scotia, N.Y.) shut the door the rest of the way, earning the complete game win. Aker (2-3) allowed three earned runs on nine hits and one walk while striking out four.

Eisenhuth finished 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run scored to pace the Spartan offense. Raczka had a pair of singles and two RBI, while Brandt added a hit, two RBI and two runs scored.

Jeff Richardson (Rochester, N.H.) went 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and one run scored to lead the Terriers. Starting pitcher Cody Vigue (Skowhegan, Maine) went 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. Vigue, making his first start of the season, took the loss allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks, while striking out three in four-and-one-third innings.

In the nightcap, Castleton exploded for six runs in the second inning, sending 10 men to the plate. Zak Mayo (Avon, Conn.) doubled down the right field line to lead off the inning. With one out, Terrier starter James McLamb (Livermore Falls, Maine) ran into trouble, hitting a pair of batters and walking another to plate Mayo. Brandt then delivered a two-run single through the right side, and Ryan Zielinski (Schenectady, N.Y.) roped an RBI-single through the left side. Eisenhuth then delivered a two-out double to center that scored Zielinski.

Thomas (9-18, 6-4) grabbed a pair of runs in the top of the third, as Jake Chamblee (South Berwick, Maine) and Taylor Livingston (North Andover, Mass.) provided RBI-singles.

The Spartans answered with three more runs in the bottom of the third to push the lead to 9-2. Thomas cut the deficit to 9-3 in the top of the fifth and plated another run in the sixth, but Castleton answered with six more in the bottom half to put the game away.

Mat Pause (Hartford, Vt.) walked three times, two of which brought home runs, and had a two-run single for a four-RBI nightcap, and Brandt also drove in four runs, going 2-for-4.

Brandon Fay (South Burlington, Vt.) earned the win, evening his record at 2-2. Fay pitched five innings, scattered seven hits, walked five and struck out five in yielding three earned runs.

Gray finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Daniel Ierardi (Dunstable, Mass.) brought home a run with a perfectly placed bases loaded, bunt single down the third-base line.

The two teams will finish off a four-game series tomorrow, with a doubleheader scheduled for 1 p.m.
