Box Score

COBLESKILL, N.Y. - Megan Blongy (Rutland, Vt.) had her first career hat-trick and Castleton overcame an early 1-0 deficit to defeat SUNY-Cobleskill, 9-1, in non conference women's soccer action Wednesday evening.

Misty Golden (Oxford, N.Y.) scored unassisted in the ninth minute to give the Fighting Tigers the lead, and end Castleton's scoreless streak at 265 minutes and 31 seconds.

From that point on it was all Blongy and the Spartans. The sophomore striker knotted the score in the 24th minute, heading home a deflected pass in the box. Two minutes later Kelsey Garceau (St. Albans, Vt.) gave the Spartans the lead for good, finding herself alone with the keeper and sending home her first-collegiate marker.

Castleton (7-2) exploded for seven second-half goals, once again ignited by a Blongy tally, this time set up by Courtney Chadburn (North Clarendon, Vt.). Chadburn placed the ball directly on Blongy's foot who scored from point blank range.

At 48:54, Lucia Sforza (Walcott, Vt.) netted her first-college goal finding the upper right corner of the net from about 20-yards out for a 4-1 lead.

Chadburn scored the next two, pushing her season total to seven, just one minute and 33 seconds apart giving the Spartans a 6-1 advantage.

Blongy completer her hat-trick connecting on a feed from Chadburn at 67:20 of the second half.

Kelsey Lenney (Coxsackie, N.Y.) picked up assist No.2 and No.3 on the season finding Hannah Josselyn (Ludlow, Vt.) directly off a corner kick at 79:53 and Maria Arnot (Milford, N.Y.) on a beautiful cross at 87:21.

Castleton returns to action at Spartan Stadium on Friday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m. against Elmira.
