Spartans win fifth straight, Flore nets two goals in victory

Mahwah, N.J. - Senior midfielder Sarah Flore (Springfield, Vt.) scored a pair of goals while fellow classmate Courtney Nolan (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) scored once and dished out two assists to lead Castleton over Ramapo College, 3-0, on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Spartans' goaltender Siobhan Whittemore (Springfield, Vt.) earned the shutout making seven saves.

Castleton improves to 5-1 overall on the season. The Roadrunners fall to 3-3.

Just 4 minutes and 57 seconds into the contest, Flore picked up her first of two goals on the afternoon striking home a penalty corner off a crisp feed from Nolan.

Later in the first half, Nolan set up Flore again at 36:37 to make it 2-0. Flore has now scored at least two goals in each of her last five games compiling 22 points total during Castleton's five-game winning streak.

Nolan added insurance at 56:54 of the second half beating Ramapo goaltender Rebecca Elliot (Brick, N.J.) for a 3-0 advantage.

Castleton outshot the Roadrunners 14-11 and won the penalty corners match-up 16-15.

The Spartans return to action on Monday, September 20 at Spartan Stadium versus Keene St. with game time scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
