Box Score CASTLETON, Vt. - Sophomore forward Trevor Kotrady (No. Clarendon, Vt.) drilled home the game-winner in the 107th minute of the second overtime period to give Castleton a 2-1 win over non-conference opponent, Plymouth St., on Wednesday night at Spartan Stadium on Senior Night.
Kotrady tallied his seventh goal of the season by blasting home a loose ball from the left flank to improve the Spartans to 12-5 overall on the season. The Panthers drop to 5-8-1.
Before the game, goaltender Andy LaCroix (Jamaica, Vt.), Anthony Buehler (Castleton, Vt.), Sean Leggett (Mechanicville, N.Y.), Chris Mullholland (Ridgefield Park, N.J.) and Josh Costa (Sutton, Mass.) were honored for their contributions and efforts towards the men's soccer program.
Plymouth St. took an early 1-0 advantage at 23:15 of the first half as senior midfielder/forward Eric Owens received a through pass from teammate Moses Igah (Abuja, Nigeria) and ripped a shot into the lower left corner of the net past LaCroix for the early lead.
Castleton responded at 36:45 as Nick Johnas (Niskayuna, N.Y.) placed an indirect kick from about 60-yards out directly into the center of the box where Costa booted it behind Panthers' goaltender Bjorn Ohlsson (Halmstad NA, Sweden) to even the score at 1-1.
After the first half, both teams had plenty of opportunities registering seven shots each in the second half. Ultimately, the Spartans outshout Plymouth St., 25-21, in the contest.
LaCroix made two stops in net while Ohlsson turned away an impressive 10 shots.
Castleton won the corners match-up 8-5.
The Spartans travel to St. Joseph's (Vt.) on Saturday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m. in the regular season finale.
