Lyndonville, VT – The Castleton State College men's basketball team fell 68-66 at Lyndon State College, as Kevin Cayea's last-second three-point attempt fell just short at the buzzer, in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action Saturday afternoon.

After Lyndon State's Cesar Martinez missed a pair of free throws to ice the game, Michael Carrier secured the rebound and Castleton called a timeout to set up a final attempt. Cayea was freed up and had a decent look from about 23-feet out, but it fell just short as time expired.

After falling behind by as many as 18 (54-36) with 13:44 remaining in the second half, Castleton used a 21-6 run to cut it to three with 7:09 remaining. The game remained tight down the stretch, but Lyndon State was able to hang on for the victory and improve to 7-11 (3-6 NAC).

Kali Stoddard-Imari, Martinez and Brad Durr each turned in double-double performances for the Hornets. Stoddard-Imari led the charge with 22 points and 14 rebounds, while Martinez and Durr turned in 18/10 and 10/11 performances respectively.

Seth Harrington led Castleton with 15 points, while Carrier added 11 off the bench for the 2-18 (1-8 NAC) Spartans.

Castleton returns to Glenbrook Gymnasium next Tuesday evening when the Spartans host Green Mountain College at 5:30 pm in NAC action. The game is part of the NCAA's "Take a Kid to the Game," a one-of-a-kind initiative that will expose children to college basketeball at over 700 games this season.
