Castleton loses in consolation round of Naismith Classic

Springfield, MA -The Castleton State College men's basketball team lost 97-55 in the consolation round of the Holiday Inn/Naismith Classic to host Springfield College.

Cameron Bodine led a trio of Spartans in double figures with 17 points, but it was not enough to combat the balanced attack from Springfield, which placed 13 players in the scoring column.

Springfield's Ryan Blackmon scored a game high 19 points and hauled in six rebounds to lead the 7-4 Pride. John Srtawson added 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field and grabbed eight rebounds, while Matthew Cavalieri added 11 points and Pat Crean 10.

Kevin Cayea and Michael Carrier followed Bodine in the scoring column, adding 13 and 10 points respectively as Castleton falls to 0-9 on the season.

Castleton returns to action on January 7 when the Spartans play host to College of St. Joseph (Vt.) at 7:00 pm.
