Castleton wraps up regular season with 7-6 win at Plattsburgh State

Plattsburgh, NY-Brad Polcare drove in the game-winning run in the top of the seventh inning to lead Castleton to a 7-6 win over Plattsburgh State in non-conference baseball action.

Polcare smacked an rbi-single to center that scored Lauck Blake who had reached on a single and stole second to set up the winning run.

Castleton was staked to a 6-0 lead through three innings after scoring three in the first, one in the second and two in the third before Plattsburgh State came back to tie it at 6-6.

Chris Ragis stroked a one-out, two-run triple to right field that scored Polcare, who had reached on a single, and Billy Bruneau who walked to start the scoring. Ragis was brought around later in the inning on Garrett Bissonnette's rbi-single.

Bruneau provided an rbi-single in the second, and Jon Laureano smacked a two-run double down the right field line to give Castleton th esix-run cushion.

Polcare, Bruneau and Blake each had two hits to lead the 18-17 Spartans.

Jeremy Gilcris tossed a perfect sixth inning to pick up the win, and Will LaRose was perfect in the seventh to earn the save.

Castleton will take the top seed into this weekend's North Atlantic Conference baseball tournament held at Szot Park in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The Spartans kick things off with a 2:00 pm game against fourth-seeded Husson College.
