Castleton falls to 1-1 in Phoenix with 12-5 loss to Southern Maine

Phoenix, AZ-The Castleton State College baseball team slipped to 1-8 on the season after suffering a 12-5 loss to Southern Maine at the Phoenix Invitational.

Castleton was staked to a 3-0 lead after two innings of play thanks to run-scoring doubles by Dan Conley and Chris Ragis in the first inning, and a double and run scored by Ted Mills in the second. The lead was short-lived however, as the Huskies scored nine unanswered runs over the next three innings to seal the win.

Brad Polcare doubled and scored a pair of runs for Castleton, while Garrett Bissonnette also added a double and one RBI. Mills collected three hits on the day, while Conley added two.

Brandon Heck took the loss in relief, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits.
