Castleton falls 4-2 at Norwich

Northfield, VT-The Castleton State College women's ice hockey team lost to ECAC East foe Norwich University 4-2 and will have the 8th seed entering the conference tournament next weekend.

The loss puts Castleton three points behind a three-way tie for 5th place in the standings.

The Spartans fell behind 4-0 through the first two periods before scoring a pair of unanswered goals in the third. Nicole Adams scored a goal and assisted on the other to lead the offense. Stephanie Purinton notched the other Castleton goal on the power-play with just under five minutes remaining, but it was as close as the 5-14-4 (4-10-4 ECAC East) Spartans would come.

Vanessa Carter stopped 40 shots in the loss for Castleton.

The Spartans will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at St. Michael's College, face-off scheduled for 3:00 pm.
