Box Score Irving, TX-The Castleton State College baseball team dropped its third consecutive game in Texas, losing a 10-7 decision to the University of Dallas.
The Crusaders and starting pitcher Scott Crisp jumped out to an early lead by scoring 1 run in
the 3rd inning, 3 in the 5th and 5 more in the bottom of the 7th, before Castleton got on the board with 6 runs in the top of the 8th inning.
Dallas added 1 more run in their half of the inning and Castleton scored 1 run in the top of the 9th, before senior infielder Tom Fogerty saved the game for the Crusaders.
Starting pitcher Scott Crisp went 7 and a third innings before being chased in the top of the 8th inning. He held Castleton to 4 hits and 4 walks, and picked up 7 strikeouts.
Senior catcher Fraser Holmes led the way offensively going 3-5 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored. He stroked a 2 run home run in the 5th inning and added an RBI single in the Crusader's 6-run, 7th inning.
Castleton's Adam Kuhn started and pitched a pair of shut-out innings, striking out two before giving way to Rob Turner. Turner surrendered one run on three hits and two walks in taking the loss.
Catcher Kyle Brooks led the offense with a pair of hits, including a double and two RBI to go along with one run scored.
The Spartans will take on Dallas in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon before returning to Castleton. The first game is slated for a 12:00 pm start.
