Castleton downs falls to NAC leader, Elms College 96-69

Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College men's basketball team dropped a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match-up to league-leader Elms College 96-69 at Glenbrook Gymnasium.

The Blazers placed five players in double-figures and had nine players score in the one-sided victory. Malaki Berry, Juan Galdon and Joe Esile each had 13 points to lead the 16-6 (9-2 NAC) Blazers.

Elms College raced out to a 51-39 as Berry and Galdon each had 11 in the half, while Esile had 10.

Richard Reilly scored a game-high 18 points to lead the 13-9 (6-5 NAC) Spartans. Chris Young scored 13 points and hauled in 15 rebounds for his fourth consecutive double-double performance. Joey Farley was the only other Spartan in double-figures with 10.

Elms College will travel to Johnson State Saturday for a 4:00 pm NAC match-up.

Castleton is also back in action on Saturday, playing host to Becker College in a 4:00 pm NAC tilt. The Spartans will also be taking part in the NCAA's Take a Kid to the Game, a nationwide initiative to expose youth to the game of basketball. Admission is free and there will be autograph sessions with players, free popcorn and a visit from "Sparty" the mascot.
