Box Score Castleton, VT-Chris Young scored a game-high 24 points and hauled in 12 rebounds to lead Castleton State College to an 88-68 victory over Wheelock College in North Atlantic Conference men's basketball action.
Young's double-double included eight offensive rebounds and a 10 for 13 performance from the free-throw line.
The Spartans raced out to a 50-38 lead at halftime as the Wildcats had no answer for Young inside (17 points in the half) or the outside shooting of the Castleton guards (7-13 from three-point land).
Sherard Robbins turned a double-double 23 points and 18 rebounds to lead the 1-18 (0-8 NAC) Wildcats. Joining Robbins in double-digit scoring for Wheelock was Jarred Lynch with 16 points off the bench.
Joey Farley added 20 points, including four three-pointers as Castleton improves to 12-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Josh Howe chipped in 13 points on 4 for 7 shooting from beyond the three-point arch.
The Spartans are back in action Friday, February 8 when they travel to Maine Maritime Academy for an 8:00 pm NAC tip-off.
