Castleton stumbles at Skidmore

Saratoga Springs, NY - The Castleton State College men's basketball team dropped a 75-60 road contest to Skidmore College in non-conference action.

Jon Douglas led four Thoroughbreds in double figures with a game-high 16 points, as Skidmore used a 22-0 run midway through the first half to put the game out of reach early. The Throughbreds held Castleton scoreless for 13:48 en route to a 39-18 halftime lead. Castleton struggled to find its shooting touch in the early going, shooting just 17.9% (5-28) over the first 20 minutes of action.

Sophomore guard Jeff Altimar finished with 14 points for the Thoroughbreds. Senior Jake Shechtman added 11 points and eight rebounds, and freshman Dylan Malloy posted 10 points. 

Sophomore Michael Carrier led the Spartans with 14 points, while senior Rubin Jennings and freshman Mat Roulier each contributed 12 points off the bench for Castleton.

It is the second-straight win for the Thoroughbreds, who improve to 4-3 this season.  Castleton remains winless at 0-6.

The Spartans will wrap up their first semester on Thursday, December 11 when they travel to SUNY-IT for a 7:00 pm non-conference match-up.
