Box Score 2 Bangor, ME –The Castleton State College baseball team stretched their winning streak to 11 games after sweeping Husson College in a North Atlantic Conference doubleheader, scoring six runs in the top of the seventh to take the first game 7-5, and winning the second 9-5.
In the opener Castleton plated six runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 7-5 win. Brandon Heck tossed a scoreless inning in relief to earn the win, after Jeremy Gilcris tossed thre first six. Gilcris allowed five runs (three earned) while striking out three.
Chris Ragis went 2 for 3 with a double, two RBI and two runs scored to lead the offense. Jon Handy was also 2 for 3 with two RBI and one run scored, while Eric Anderson added two hits and two RBI.
In the nightcap, Ron Cahill tossed five innings to earn the win, allowing five earned on eight hits while striking out four.
Eric Anderson continues to swing a hot stick as he went 3 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored. Jon Handy collected two more hits and drove in a pair of runs as Castleton improves to 21-9 overall and 8-1 in conference play.
The Spartans are back in action tomorrow when they face conference foe, St. Joseph's College (Me.). The Monks are tied atop the NAC standings with Castleton with one loss apiece.
