Castleton wins sixth straight, downs Becker 95-84

Castleton, VT-The Castleton State College men's basketball team won their sixth straight game defeating NAC foe, Becker, 95-84 at Glenbrook Gymnasium. Rich Reilly led four Spartans in double-figures with 23 points, nine assists and five steals.

Castleton jumped out to a 50-41 halftime lead, thanks to some hot shooting. The Spartans stroked 7-11 from beyond the arc and shot 65% overall for the first 20 minutes to combat Emmanuel Masumbuko's 19 first-half points for Becker. Masumbuko would end his night with a game-high 25 points and seven rebounds before leaving with an apparent injury.

Jeremy Jorgensen scored 16 points on 6-8 shooting from the floor and grabbed nine rebounds, while Kevin Cayea chipped in 17 points off the Spartan bench. Joey Farley rounded out the Castleton players in double figures with 13, including a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc.

Shawn Fuller recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds for the 3-21 (1-13 NAC) Hawks. Jason Patterson and Jeremy Rivers chipped in 15 and 11 points respectively.

With the win Castleton improves to 14-10 overall and hold an 8-6 conference mark. The Spartans have locked up the final NAC tournament spot in the West division and will play in a quarterfinal game on Tuesday, site and time still to be determined.

Castleton will host the NCAA's Take a Kid to the Game tomorrow afternoon versus Elms College at 1:00 PM. Becker will end their season tomorrow at Johnson State, tip-off 1:00 PM.
