Box Score Castleton, VT-Senior forward Jeremy Jorgensen established a new career mark for rebounding at Castleton, breaking the former record held by Mike Whiting ('75). Jorgensen finished with 19 points and nine rebounds as the Spartans defeated Lesley 90-69, avenging an early season loss.
Castleton raced out to a 51-35 halftime lead thanks to a 7-15 performance from beyond the arc and 47% shooting from the field. Rich Reilly scored a team-high 23 points and dished out eight assists to lead four Spartans in double-figures.
Lesley went on a late game surge to cut the lead to single digits with under five minutes to play, but Castleton was able to answer the run and put the game away. Anthony Drayton led the 12-11 (8-6 NAC) Lynx with 25 points, while Josehp Chatam and Mark Stevens chipped in 13 and 10 respectively.
Joining Jorgensen and Reilly in double-figures were Josh Howe with 18, and Joey Farley with 16 including 4 triples.
With the win Castleton improves to 12-10 overall and 7-6 in NAC play. The Spartans are back in action Tuesday night when they travel to non-conference Green Mountain College for a 7:30 PM game. Lesley will also play Tuesday as they square off against NAC West leader, Elms College at 6:30 PM.
