Box Score Bristol, RI-The Castleton State College men's basketball team salvaged a third-place finish with a commanding 102-77 win over Suffolk University.
The Spartans placed five players in double figures, led by Chris Young and Josh Howe who each had 20 points and six rebounds.
Castleton raced out to a 52-28 halftime lead, due mostly to scorching the nets to the tune of 8-14 from beyond the three-point stripe. The team would not cool down from distance in the second half either as they ended the night 15-27 overall, tying the team record for most three-pointers made in a game.
Suffolk's Alan Jaziri would tally a game-high 22 points, while teammate Mike Fleming added 19 but it would not be enough to combat the Spartans' balance.
Joining Young and Howe in double figures were Kevin Cayea with 18, Joey Farley 17 and Rich Reilly with 10. Reilly also added eight assists and Cayea seven.
The Spartans are back in action Tuesday, November 20 when they travel to Plymouth State for a 7:30 pm non-conference game.
